Wanted Fugitive Caught in Brownsville by US Marshals

On Monday, February 26, 2024, Efrain Eusebio Barrientos (37) was apprehended by the Brownsville Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Barrientos faced active arrest warrants from both the Brownsville PD and the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.

He was charged with several offenses including Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (1st Degree Felony), Aggravated Robbery (1st Degree Felony), Theft of Motor Vehicle (3rd Degree Felony), Evading Arrest (3rd Degree Felony), Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (2nd Degree Felony), and Reckless Driving (Class B Misdemeanor). Additionally, there were warrants for him in Hidalgo County for Evading Arrest and Smuggling of Persons.

Following his arrest, Barrientos was arraigned on February 27, 2024, at the Brownsville City Jail. He was issued a bond of $227,500 for charges related to the Brownsville PD.
