San Antonio Man Receives 35-year Sentence for Sexually Abusing a Child

On February 5, 2024, a Bexar County jury returned a guilty verdict and a sentence of 35 years in prison against 38-year-old Jason Austraw-Overstreet for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 14.

The minimum punishment for continuous sexual abuse of a child is 25 years and Austraw-Overstreet will never be eligible for parole.  In addition, he will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.  This means that Austraw-Overstreet will not be walking the street of our community until he is over 70 years of age.  Even then, he will continue to be supervised by law enforcement.

Austraw-Overstreet began sexually abusing a child in 2015 when the child was just three years old.  The abuse continued through 2017, when the child turned six.  At that time, the child was adopted by another family member.  The child later outcried to the family member about the abuse.

The case was assigned to the Family Violence Division of the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's office.
