San Antonio Teen Arrested in Connection with Robbery Resulting in Double Homicide

Joshua Castro

San Antonio Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old high school senior, Joshua Castro, in connection with a robbery that led to the deaths of two individuals in December. Castro faces charges of capital murder and is currently held at Bexar County Jail.

Castro was apprehended on Wednesday at Holmes High School. His alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Sebastian Toledo, took his own life after a brief standoff on Monday night in the 10000 block of Cat Mountain as authorities closed in on him.

The incident in question occurred on December 6 at the Circle K gas station in the 9000 block of Potranco Road. According to SAPD, Castro and Toledo are believed to have orchestrated a meeting with the victims under the pretense of purchasing a firearm, intending to rob them.

Surveillance footage obtained by investigators depicted 15-year-old Raymond Ancira Jr. interacting with the suspects outside his vehicle at the gas station. Shots were fired during the encounter, resulting in the fatalities of Ancira Jr. and his father, 34-year-old Raymond Ancira.

While the investigation continues, authorities suggest there might have been another individual involved in the crime. The younger Ancira succumbed to his injuries after making his way into the store and collapsing. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he later passed away.
