San Marcos Police ID Downtown Shooting Suspect; One Arrest Made in Separate Post Road Shooting

Patrick Dave Anderson

San Marcos Police have named 24-year-old Patrick Dave Anderson as the suspect in the November 1 shooting near Kissing Alley that left one man dead and two others injured. Anderson, who moved to San Marcos from Arizona in October, has not been arrested and is believed to have left the area.

Investigators say the shooting started when two groups passed each other on a sidewalk downtown and an argument broke out. Anderson reportedly fired multiple rounds, killing 19-year-old Ronnie Hernandez Jr. and injuring two other people. Police initially believed two suspects were involved, but the second person has since been identified and is cooperating with detectives. The U.S. Marshals Service is helping track Anderson down.

Police are also working a second, unrelated shooting that happened the next night at the Outpost Apartments on Post Road. Detectives say a fight near the pool escalated into gunfire.

Seventeen-year-old John Anthony “Chucky” Contreras of Kyle is now wanted for Attempted Capital Murder of Multiple Persons. Another suspect, 17-year-old D’antrae Houston, was arrested on November 6 in Lockhart on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anderson or Contreras is urged to contact San Marcos Police at 512-753-2108 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS.
