On March 2, 2025, at approximately 6:12 PM, Bexar County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash in the 10700 block of Terrace Ridge in Southeast Bexar County. First responders arrived to find a truck had crashed into the back of a home, coming to a stop in the living room. Inside the residence, deputies discovered a female victim lying on the ground beneath the truck. She was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) in critical condition. A male victim inside the home was also injured and taken to Mission Trails for medical treatment.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a male suspect fleeing on foot toward Red Lake Drive. One witness captured a photo of the suspect leaving, while another provided a detailed description of his clothing. The suspect was described as wearing a black short-sleeve t-shirt and jeans. A third witness stated they saw the suspect exit the house and reported seeing the vehicle pull out of a vacant lot before speeding away toward Red Lake Drive.

Deputies quickly located the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Darwin Arita Castellanos. Authorities detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. During questioning, Castellanos admitted to driving the vehicle involved in the crash and acknowledged he had been drinking. He also expressed concern that he may have injured someone.

Investigators determined that the 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which had a trailer attached, swerved through the neighborhood before crashing into the residence. The impact left the vehicle and trailer completely inside the home, causing significant damage.

With the assistance of witnesses, deputies were able to apprehend Castellanos. He was transported and booked into the Bexar County Jail on charges of Intoxication Assault and Collision Involving Injury.
