Gregory Louis Garza, 31, of Comfort, Texas, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old child.
The sentence, handed down by the Honorable Judge Kirsten Cohoon in the 451st District Court of Kendall County, concludes a case involving the sexual abuse of Garza’s 13-year-old half-sister at his residence in March 2022.
Evidence presented included a forensic interview with the victim and corroborating forensic evidence. Garza admitted to the abuse during a pre-sentencing investigation, further supporting the victim's accounts.
The decision to accept Garza's guilty plea was made to protect the victim from the trauma of testifying in court.
“It underscores our unwavering dedication to protecting children and seeking justice for victims of sexual abuse, and sends a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated in Kendall County,” said Prosecutor Andrew Fields.
The Kendall County District Attorney’s Office commended the victim’s courage and acknowledged the work of Kendall County Sheriff's Office Deputy Austin Boxwell and Investigator James Walters.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Andrew Fields and Gretchen Flader.
