On Wednesday, November 27, just before 2:00 p.m., Medina County Fire/EMS crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) on Highway 90 between Dunlay and Hondo. Engine 10 was the first to arrive at the scene, where they found an overturned truck with concrete debris scattered across the westbound lanes. Engine 60 was later canceled to return to covering the city of Hondo.
While crews were still addressing the crash, at 2:20 p.m., Engine 8160 was alerted to a structure fire with potential victims trapped in the 1900 block of Highway 90, just east of Hondo. Engine 10 departed the accident scene with Community EMS and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to respond to the fire.
Both Engine 10 and Engine 60 arrived at the house within five minutes, finding smoke and flames coming from the A/D corner of the structure. Bystanders reported that a disabled resident might be trapped inside. Firefighters quickly made entry but fortunately found no victims inside. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes of dispatch.
Two residents sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Community EMS. Fire crews praised the swift response and coordination that ensured both incidents were managed effectively.
