On March 27, 2023, at approximately 7:30 am, police were dispatched to a crash site at the intersection of Highway 16 N and FM 2828.
The head-on collision resulted in a vehicle fire and one death.
Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King said a 55-year-old male driver of a truck struck another car, causing the two vehicles' front left bumpers to collide.
The collision caused the car to go underneath the truck. Upon impact the truck caught fire. The truck driver was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
