Bandera HS Student Earns Spot in Texas High School Aerospace Scholars Program with NASA

Bandera High School is proud to announce that student Savannah Lasiter has been selected for a unique STEM opportunity with the Texas High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program. NASA aims to cultivate the next generation of engineers, scientists, researchers, and innovators, and HAS provides a distinctive experience for Texas high school students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.

The program kicks off this fall with an engaging online interactive course covering various NASA activities related to space exploration, Earth science, technology, mathematics, and aeronautics. Participants will tackle design challenges, including 3D drawings, science quizzes, discussion posts, technology writings, and monthly webinars featuring NASA scientists and engineers.

Students with the highest scores will have the opportunity to apply their training at NASA itself. There, they will receive guidance from experienced scientists and engineers, collaborating with peers from across the state to tackle hands-on design challenges and develop a mission plan for a journey to Mars. Congratulations to Savannah Lasiter on this remarkable achievement, and we wish her success in this exciting STEM adventure!
