San Antonio Police Identify Suspect Shot and Killed During Pursuit

Jacob String

The San Antonio Police Department has identified the 27-year-old suspect who was shot and killed during a pursuit on Monday as Jacob String. String had been out on parole after being released from prison in May for an offense of evading arrest with a vehicle, according to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office.

The shooting occurred on the Southeast Side near Southcross and Prestwick, where officers initiated the pursuit of String following two robberies earlier that Monday. During the pursuit, it is reported that String may have fired at police with a weapon, prompting officers to return fire, ultimately resulting in his death.

The SAPD revealed on Tuesday that further investigation indicated String had drawn a gun from his waistband and pointed it toward officers. However, no rounds were fired from his weapon.

Police Chief William McManus stated that the suspect had been wanted on multiple aggravated robbery warrants at the time of the incident.
