Armed Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested by San Antonio Police

Charles Peoples

Over the past few weeks, female convenience store clerks around the Eastside of San Antonio have been targeted by an aggressive armed serial robber. Using investigative techniques, SAPD Robbery Task Force Unit (RTFU) detectives were able to identify the suspect as 47 year old Charles Peoples.

On May 13, 2023, after several hours of surveillance, Peoples emerged from the his residence and began riding on a bicycle. RTFU detectives were able to maintain surveillance on the unsuspecting Peoples as he rode his bicycle on the 4200 block of Kilrea Dr.

As uniformed patrol officers were approaching the violent suspect to take him into custody, he was targeted by a group of friendly stray dogs. Peoples was so scared of the dogs he fell off the bike. Patrol officers used this opportunity to contact Peoples under the guise of checking on his well-being from the fall and dogs.

Officers established the suspect was not harmed and took him into custody after a brief struggle. RTFU Detectives were on scene to assist.

RTFU then relocated to Peoples’s residence where a search warrant of the residence was executed.

The search of the residence yielded the handgun believed to have been used in all 3 robberies as well as most of the clothing worn during the robberies.

Peoples was transported to RTFU Offices where a full confession was obtained. Peoples was currently on Parole for Aggravated Robbery and had an active parole violation. He was further booked for his Aggravated Robbery Warrant, Assault on PO, resisting arrest, Poss CS PG 2 less than a gram and Poss CS PG 1 less than 1 gram. There will be several more Aggravated Robbery warrants being issued for Peoples.
