On January 11, 2023 at approximately 6:05 pm, there was a shooting at 12900 block of Club House Blvd in South San Antonio. The suspect, 17-year-old Ray Espinosa, arranged a narcotics transaction with the victims and planned to rob them of the narcotics. When the victims arrived, Espinosa pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded they exit the vehicle. One of the victims fought back and tried to disarm Espinosa. Espinosa discharged his firearm into the vehicle, striking the victim in the upper body, resulting in his death.
Through investigation and evidence found, San Antonio Homicide detectives were able to have a Capital Murder Arrest Warrant signed by a judge, for the arrest of Espinosa.
Espinosa was currently already in custody at the Bexar County Jail for different, unrelated charges.
